Flooring and Frames

Thanks Steve for the great post, This week three or four students in my group will be finishing the floor we started last week ready for Frames on Thursday this week. Franks house we will all get stuck in to get it finished by Friday ready for the frames next Wednesday. At this stage it is suppose to be fine weather until Thursday so i thought we would do practical Wednesday and Thursday and theory on Friday. This will give us a chance to go through your portfolios and catch up on anything that is required. We also have another BUIT to start. At this stage this is what is happening but as you know by now things might change.
So until Wednesday,take care and will see you all then.

Sharing - Hazard class for timber & others..

I personally subscribe NZ WOOD newsletter, and some time they send out e-news letter that can help you gain more knowledge in the field, the printable PDF files, which can help you distinguish the various grade of timber we use on site.

There's also one interesting read on flexible structure (Timber) comparing to rigid structure (Concrete) from the former engineer and Far North mayor Wayne Brown.

As we all will be working in the same "team", please take a read of the following installation guide before we start laying floors shortly:

1. Aluminium foil: Thermakraft - ThermaBar 811 User Guide

2. Sheet Flooring: Carter Holt Harvey's Ultralock - Download and read the Installation Guide

3. Glues for Floors fixings: Holdfast - Gorilla Glue MSDS (Material Safe Data Sheet)

This week's toolbox meeting are not yet done, someone will have to think about it and lead the class.

Class this morning

Please make sure you read and understand the Kopine Ultralock Particleboard Flooring System which we talked about this morning in class so when we start the floor you understand what is going on.
Hopefully tomorrow we can get most of the floor down on one of the houses (weather permitting). We will all lay one house floor first then move to the next house.
Good chance to get assignments done today and catch up.

Wow, great job Mathew. Hope to see more from others. Good effort on Friday with the sub-floor. We should be able to start flooring on Wednesday on my house and Franks house a few more more nogs. See you all Wednesday.

To put a photo on the BLOG site you new to go to new post and on the tool bar you will see LINK and next to it will be INSERT IMAGE or INSERT a VIDEO. (Hopefully this works)
We need to do a class exercise on the BLOG sometime soon to make sure we get it running properly. (Hopefully someone in the class is familiar BLOGS and can teach us all as a class)

Sub Floor

Hi all, good job last week with the start of sub floor. The house is staring to take shape. Hopefully all the joists will be down by the end of the week.
